1502_Lagoa da Serra House

The House in southern Santa Catarina, Brazil, is designed with simple materials and presents a facade with little openings to the public road while keeping a very transparent relation with it’s backyard. The detached roof creates extra room for friends and family reunions on weekends and allows easy future extension or even a duplication of the original plan if so desired. Service zones are sheltered by an adjecent volume built with bricks topped by the water tank. The mais body of the house is mostly built on wood but masonry can be found on the front facade, where it is carved by small, low windows that allow long views to the road in front when laying on the bed. Two aligned floor-to-ceiling doors allow air to flow through the house on warm days and can significantly change the relations of the house with its surroundings when opened.
