The Geroni Posanki Street’s House is situated in Videira, a city located in the Santa Catarina state’s center, 380 km away from the state capital, Florianópolis. The project’s site is 3 km away from the city center, it has houses built in the edges and it is northwest oriented.
The house is planned to attend a middle-aged couple, and it is composed by a bedroom, bathroom, living room, kitchen, swimming pool, patios, orchid nursery, guest room and a two cars garage.
The project extends itself across the entire site’s lateral width, maximizing the use of the available area. Instead of an isolated house surrounded by narrow gardens, the floor plan covers most of the site and have the rooms facing generous internal gardens.
The garage is located at the house’s entrance and has a cabinet for storage of objects and tools. A bit further there is a guest room and a toilet that serves both the guest room and the rest of the house.
The living room is the home’s integrative room, and all the other spaces can be accessed through it. The largest dimension of the room is 13.6 meters, which results in an area that houses leisure and rest activities as well as the kitchen and dining table. Two large windows light up the space, natural lighting is guaranteed at different levels since the frames are positioned on opposite walls; the north oriented window ensures direct light and the south oriented one allows a soft and indirect light, ideal for the summer days.
The larger patio has a swimming pool, and it is located on the site’s north, a great location for the summer days. The elongated eave houses a barbecue area and protects the interior of the building from intense sunny days, a retractable awning allows this shaded area to be increased when necessary.
The couple’s private area is divided from the common ones by a closet that extends itself from the larger dimension of the room. The fixed closet serves both the bedroom and the living room and accommodates the fireplace that heats the area.
The couple’s bedroom has a private bathroom, illuminated and ventilated by a pleasant winter garden, that eliminates the need for artificial light during the day.
A third inner garden is situated between the living room and the inner bedroom. This garden is protected from intense light, ideal for the orchid nursery and relaxation by the wooden hot tub.
